Day four: Tome

Well today has been eventful. I woke up bright and early, ate breakfast, and said my thank yous and goodbyes to the Barkmans and Tina. Dave then drove me 1.5 hrs north to Tome through a snow storm... They have gotten more snow in the past 3 days then Minnesota has all winter it seems! But anyway, I get to the base, find I cot and then work on meeting people. Monday is their day off so there weren't many people around. Naturally I was uncomfortable and just felt the need to read my Bible. I read a couple Psalms and prayed that i would settle in soon. Just as i was finishing my prayer, i happened to look up when a girl came in the room. She was wearing Bethel sweatpants. Lo and behold she goes to Bethel and is taking a semester off to help here. Instantly I felt more at home and we talked for about 45 minutes. I also met a guy named Wayne. Wayne is a super nice guy who loves to give you grief...my kind of guy! The more the day wend on the more people I got to know.. I met people from Minnesota, Kansas, Nebraska, Arkansas, Boston, alberta, Australia, and all over. Everyone is extremely warm and friendly, and by the end of the night they were asking me to play rummy and stuff with them.

So, as I mentioned, today was on off day because they work Tuesday-Saturday. We filled the time with games and a trip into Tome to get some stuff at the hardware store. I want to talk a bit about the guy from Arkansas, because he has an AMAZING testimony, but I have to be up in 7 hours to start the first day of work (we are assigned to Ishinomaki..google it-they were hit pretty hard), so I will save his testimony for a later time.

Specific prayer requests:
-safety tomorrow
-for the churches, and especially the pastors here. They know this is possibly their only opportunity to have a revival in the part of Japan that has been historically the most unresponsive to the Gospel. The pastors are putting in extremely long hours everyday.

Thanks again so much!! Sorry for typos...I type these on my iPod touch and my fat fingers hit a lot of wrong letters that autocorrect won't fix (or thinks I'm trying to spell a completely different word).
